Many small crossovers are seeing very strong year over year sales growth in September of 2014. The Honda CR-V is still in the lead and grew 10.6% over September of last year. Toyota RAV4 is in second spot for the month and catching up with a 42.7% growth for the month. Ford Escape struggled in September, but it is still in second place in year-to-date (YTD) totals.
The redesigned 2014 Nissan Rogue is picking up a lot of momentum with 51.8% monthly sales growth. The all-new Jeep Cherokee is now in sixth sales position after around 11 months of being on the market. The list of successful crossover keeps going. Subaru Forester, GMC Terrain, Mazda CX-5, and Subaru XV are having some of the best sales months ever. The aging Jeep Patriot also grew 51.0% for the month and jumped into the eighth place.

However, the most improved compact crossover for the month was the Kia Sportage at 72.3%. The most growing crossover for year-to-date was the Subaru XV at 42.8%.
Only two models on this list are showing a year-to-date loss and there are no fewer than fifteen competitors overall. No doubt this is one of the hottest segments around and will continue to be for some time.
