The Honda CR-V reclaims number one sales spot for the month of May 2014, and pushes the record setting Ford Escape to the number two position. The CR-V is showing very strong growth of 18.8% for the month. The Escape had its best ever sales month by moving 31,896 units. It grew 9.5% over the same month of last year. Similarly, Toyota RAV4 took down the Chevy Equinox for third place. There is a wide gap between second and third, but both pairs are duking out very closely.
The Nissan Rogue holds a firm fifth position, but still has a long way to break into the top four. The Jeep Cherokee is having a wild ride as it passes the very successful Subaru Forester for sixth place. The Cherokee is doing extremely well despite a controversial launch.
Overall, May was notably successful for the entire segment and the larger market in general. Several vehicles and brands saw their best months ever. The summer season is getting to great jump start.
