“Smokey and The Bandit” Fans, NASCAR Driver Tony Stewart Is Bringing It Back

Smoke is the Bandit

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart, nicknamed Smoke, is taking that name to heart in a seriously funny web series parody called Smoke IS The Bandit.

The six-part web series has Stewart channeling his inner Burt Reynolds complete with an enormous mustache that would make any man jealous. He’s also got the iconic Pontiac Firebird Trans Am to play with and the hat to make the transformation complete.

The series chronicles the tales of Smoke and sets him on a series of adventures that involve him obtaining precious Mobil 1 oil. His first job is to pick up 400 bottles of Mobil 1 from Texarkana so the No. 14 Mobil 1/Bass Pro Chevy can run at peak performance throughout the coming NASCAR season. Yeah, that’d be his car in the real world where his mustache isn’t so big.

So far they’ve released a trailer and just the first episode, and if it doesn’t make you long for the days of Burt Reynold and that goofy laugh, then nothing will. The whole thing is done with all the cheese you’d expect from a Smokey and the Bandit parody and they promise that there will even be recreations of the movie’s most famous scenes along the way.

Stewart looks like he’s having way too much fun with this gig, even breaking out his best imitation of Reynolds’ laugh.

Bet he’s hoping he doesn’t see this 2014 Dodge Police Pursuit Charger in the rearview…
