Lightning Motorcycle, one of the most proficient electric motorcycle builders in the business, beat all of world fastest gas-powered competitors at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) in Colorado Springs, Co. on June 30th 2013. Not only did Lightning Motorcycle beat its closest gas-powered competitor by nearly 21 seconds, Lightning Motorcycle came eighth overall.

Solar powered recharging was used to fill up the Lightning Motorcycle on its record run.

“We are incredibly gratified with the performance by Carlin ,” said Richard Hatfield, founder and CEO of Lightning Motorcycle. “The Lightning team worked around the clock to ensure we provide the best possible bike to Carlin. The Lightning team set this as a goal over 4 years ago after the first North American road racing event at Infineon.

We achieve our goal last Sunday. This accomplishment is a big step forward for Lightning, and we believe this is a giant leap forward for public acceptance of clean renewable energy based transportation.”

The Lightning SuperBike, the world’s fastest electric motorcycle, was powered with solar energy via a SMA inverter and Trina panels which charge the EnerDel battery pack that provide the vehicle with enough power to win the race.
