Today, Jan 24th, Toyota issued a press release about the debut of the third generation 2014 Toyota Tundra.  The event will take place at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show press conference at 10a.m.EST on February 7th.

The all new Tundra will be revealed at Toyota’s 45,000 square foot booth alongside concepts and updated current models. The release will be available to everyone streaming online at: http://new.livestream.com/toyota .

Rumors and rumblings online suggest that there will be plenty of possible new updates. Some of them are: new direct injection engine, higher quality interior with a new dash and gauges. The enhanced engine, a lower ride height, better aerodynamics and a lighter GVWR are expected to increase fuel efficiency.  Estimates are as high as 10% better economy over the existing model.

While Toyota is plagued with rusting truck frames it’s likely that the new Tundra will have a completely new design to withstand the elements a whole lot longer. The many complaints about a choppy ride and bed vibration should also be eliminated. However, a heavy duty version or an optional diesel engine may still only be a pipe dream.

Toyota has been quite diligent keeping a tight lid on the new Tundra. As more information becomes available posts will be updated. Of course, when Toyota opens the press conference at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show – stay tuned for the TFLcar.com coverage!
