Editor’s note: Roman and I first tested the Scion FR-S in Nevada on a racetrack and on some of the long highways around Las Vegas, NV. We were impressed with the vehicle’s playful nature and excellent performance. It’s no dragster, but it carves canyons like a high end German sports car.

Things change at high altitude. This boxer engine is normally aspirated and is already low on torque. We test a mile above sea level and that was the Scion FR-S’s Achilles heel. It was still a blast to drive… but it was a slow blast off the line.
