The 2012 Subaru Impreza is all new. This fourth generation all-wheel-drive Impreza is all about better gas mileage and of course more room.
For 2012 the Subaru engineers have added both shoulder and leg room to the new car as well as improved the gas mileage will a new all-aluminum engine block 2.0L engine mated to either a 5 speed manual or a CVT transmission making it America’s most fuel-efficient all-wheel-drive passenger car.
The new Impreza’s engine puts puts out 148 horspepower which is in fact 22 less than the old car, but Subaru says that new car accelerates quicker to 60 mph by 0.3 seconds.
The reason?
Subaru says that this is due to the new and improved Lineartronic CVT transmission (which now replaces the outgoing 4-speed automatic and comes mated to paddle shifters).
We recently had the chance to check out the car in Connecticut and speak with the engineers in charge of the new 2012 Impreza. Check out the video below as we chart the changes.
