Are you powered by coffee?
If so you may have something in common with a new landspeed record setting car.
A British team has developed a car that now holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest vehicle running on organic waste. And of course that organic waste would be coffee grounds.
The car, called ‘Coffee One’, is a modified Rover Sd1, which is powered by a “gasification” system that burns wood and coffee grounds. In other words, the car runs on old coffee that most people just throw away.
A few weeks ago the Coffee Car reached a top speed of 66.5 miles per hour, which set a new Guinness World Record for a vehicle running on organic waste.
“66.5 mph it’s a record,” engineer Martin Bacon tweeted after the record breaking run, “not as fast as I wanted but not bad for a car running on coffee.”
