New global 2012 Ford Focus ST hot hatch to debut at Paris Auto Show

It wasn’t all that long ago that Ford debuted the all new Ford Focus so we’re now official intrigued that Ford is all set to roll out the hot hatch ST version of the car the upcoming Paris Auto Show.

The car will debut as a 2012 model and Ford says that it will come with the company’s 2.0-liter inline four ecoboost engine producing 247-turbocharged horsepower.

Look for the Focus ST to go on sale globally in 2012 which means that American’s will finally have a crack at buying and driving the new Focus ST at the same time as the rest of the word (read Europeans).

Of course the Hot Hatch Focus will be competing in a crowded segment that includes the likes of the Mazdaspeed3, Honda Civic Si, VW  GTI and Subaru WRX.

This year we had a chance to drive the all new 2011 WRX (HERE) and the current Mazdaspeed3 (HERE) and the Golf GTI (HERE) and we’re certain that Ford needs to bring it’s A game to compete with both of these cars that already come to the party with more powerful engines.

So far our favorite design and perhaps performance feature of the 2012 Ford Focus ST is the center-mounted dual exhaust pipe.

Let’s hope the car sounds, handles, and drives as well as it looks in Orange.
