2010 Camaro vs. Mustang sales race: Camaro winning by more than a nose

Of course it’s not over yet but it doesn’t bode well for the Mustang, at least not if you look at sales figures from the first eleven months of 2010.

Obviously 68,264 Mustangs is a lot of cars, and that’s the number of units of the Mustang that Ford sold so far through November of 2010.

But GM sold 75,685 Camaros in that same time frame…which means that Chevy sold 7421 more Camaros this year. That’s a of cars and that puts the Chevy Camaro solidly in the sales war lead for 2010.

Next year Ford will get the additional benefit of having new the engine in the Mustang. As you may recall from THIS story the new bigger, better and more efficient V-6 Mustang was introduced during 2010 as a 2011 model but, and this is of course a big but, Chevy will have the all new convertible version of the Camaro next year.

For now both Ford and Chevy are keeping their powder dry, but we suspect that the pony car wars will heat up again next year as both car makers continue to compete with each other and of course the dark horse in the race….Dodge.

Check out the video below as we take the new 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 around the race track.
