We had a chance to test out the 2025 Infiniti QX80 — Here’s how it compares to the old one!
A couple weeks ago, Infiniti brought Roman out to sunny California to test out their completely redesigned flagship SUV. The past-generation QX80 certainly had size and presence on its side, thanks in no small part to its 5.6-liter V8 engine, but it was falling behind the competition. Here, the automaker aims to change all that and put its SUV in front, above the likes of heavyweights like the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, Lexus LX 600 and Jeep Grand Wagoneer. But just how much of an improvement is it over the old one? Roman takes a closer look in the video below.
2025 Infiniti QX80 trim walk
When it does actually go on sale next month, the 2025 Infiniti QX80 will arrive with a starting MSRP of $84,445 for the base rear-wheel drive model. Like other models, the “Pure” trim defines the entry level model, with Luxe, Sensory and Autograph filling out the range. Four-wheel drive is optional on the Pure and Luxe models, costing you an extra $3,100 to $3,150 if you want the extra capability.
It’s worth noting that even the 2025 Infiniti QX80 Pure brings a fair amount of equipment to the table for the money. You get dual 14.3-inch screens in place of the old setup with analog gauges, as well as a 14-speaker Klipsch audio system, flush door handles, a 360-degree camera system, Google built-in apps as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, 20-inch wheels, eight USB-C ports and a motion-activated tailgate.
The Luxe comes in at $91,495 to start (or $94,645 with 4WD), and adds Infiniti’s “Dynamic Digital Suspension”, an electric air ride setup, a head-up display, climate-controlled first and second row seats, remote control for the rear seats and 22-inch wheels. A package to upgrade the ProPilot driver assistance system from the more basic version 1.1 to 2.1 is also available as a $3,300 package.
Sensory is the first trim for the 2025 Infiniti QX80 that tips the pricing above the $100K mark. Pricing for the 4WD-only Sensor starts at $102,640, and adds semi-aniline leather seats, biometric cooling, a 24-speaker Klipsch audio system, personalized ambient lighting, dark brown ash wood trim, a frameless smart rearview mirror and Infiniti’s “Light Path” welcome lighting.
Finally, the Autograph is the fanciest of all the QX80 trims, coming in at an admittedly steep $112,590. That adds in ProPilot Assist 2.1 as standard fare, while you also get massaging eats on the second row, heated third-row seats, a cool box in the front console, an in-car camera, a two-tone roof effect and dark chrome trim, and metal inlaid into the open pore ash wood trim.
Under the hood, the 2025 Infiniti QX80 swaps out the old V8 for a new, 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 setup. Infiniti promises more power — 450 horsepower and 516 lb-ft, in fact — mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is better than before, too, offering an estimated 16 City / 20 Highway mpg for the rear-wheel drive version (4WD loses 1 mpg in each cycle).
