The All-Electric 2024 Fiat 500e Will Reportedly Cost $32,500: Too Much or Just Right for a Stylish EV?

When it returns to the US, the 500e will be Fiat's only model

The 2024 Fiat 500e is aiming to be on the top five of least expensive EVs in our market, but is that enough?

The painfully adorable 2024 Fiat 500e is about $1,600 more expensive than its closest rival, the (current) Mini Cooper SE with a base price of $30,900 according to a recent CarsDirect report. Fiat says we will know all of the details about the U.S. version of the 500e on December 5th. As such, the information I have below is based on the European version.

Still, the numbers should be close.

In Europe, the 500e uses a 42-kWh battery that powers the the front axle. Fiat says it makes up to 117 horsepower, but it’s restricted to 94-hp.Torque comes in at about 162 lb-ft, but we are talking about a vehicle that weighs about 3,000-lbs, so it should still be zippy. Speaking of being “zippy,” the charging speed overseas is not. Its maximum rating is 85 kW DC.

Its WLPT (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure) range is 199 miles. That tends to be far more than ratings on our shores. Just for reference, the larger battery in the Mini Cooper SE has a WLPT rating of up to 250 miles. In our market, the Mini Cooper SE is rated at a measly 114-miles. Many of us at TFL Studios expect better range from the upcoming 500e.

The base model should come with some nice goodies

The base model is expected to come with 17-inch aluminum wheels covered in 205/45R17 all-season tires. There is an early edition Red model you can check out on the Fiat website. The base model will also come with cloth bucket seats with red accents, and a 10.25-inch Uconnect 5 navigation system.
