The 2018 Volvo XC60 had its North American debut at the 2017 New York Auto Show. Looking like a baby XC90, the 2018 Volvo XC60 is, according to Volvo, moving up-market and its interior seems poised to take on the very best in the small luxury crossover segment.
Andre had an opportunity to interview Jim Nichols, Product and Technology Communications Manager, Volvo Car USA on the floor of the 2017 NYAS.
The 2018 Volvo XC60 in this video is a T6 model meaning it has the 316 horsepower, whereas the less expensive T5 version will make 250 hp. The T6 has the 4-cylinder turbocharged and supercharged engine that is now available in several top-end Volvo cars. The T5 will have a turbocharged-only power plant.
The interior has some interesting design ques including real driftwood used throughout along with a generous mix of leather, chromed metal and aluminum.
Pricing and EPA ratings have not been announced yet; however, the 2018 Volvo XC60 will go on sale in the late fall of 2017.
Adding to the splendor of Volvo Automobile’s 90th anniversary (April 15th 1927), they opted to bring two of their quintessential vehicles for display. There is a Volvo Duett (a distant relative to the XC60 and XC90) and a Volvo P1800, still considered by many to be one of the most beautiful vehicles built in Scandinavia.
The Volvo P1800 in this video was used and owned by actor Rodger Moore. It was one of the vehicles filmed for the Saint series. They still have the ownership papers stating that Moore actually owned the movie car.
