This rear-drive-biased, slick looking vehicle is (we think) the 2019 Genesis G70 test-mule. Destine to be a BMW 3-Series fighter, this vehicle may be powered by a 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, a hybrid system mated to a four-cylinder engine and, possibly, a twin-turbocharged V6 like the unit used in the 365 horsepower Kia Stinger.
From what we hear, the Genesis G70 platform may be used for a sports coupe and an SUV. This would make sense since the departure of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe left a bit of a hole in the lineup. A rear-drive-biased SUV could compete with the BMW X4 – among others.
This test-mule was spotted during cold weather testing by a fan. It’s pretty obvious that Hyundai/Genesis are aiming at the ultra-competitive entry-level luxury sport sedan segment like the BMW 3-series, Audi A4, Cadillac ATS, Infiniti Q50, Jaguar XE, Lexus IS and the Mercedes-Benz C-class – among others. Genesis is investing heavily to be as competitive as possible as quickly as possible. While we can’t be sure about the price of the upcoming Genesis G70, it’s a pretty good bet they will be more than competitive.
A special thank you to our awesome fan who sent this to us. If you see something covered up, disguised or something odd looking, send it to us!
