Toyota Camry scorched the US sales charts with nearly 50,000 units sold in the month of May 2014. This was 26.4% better than the same month of last year. The big players in the midsize sedan segment did well overall. Honda Accord took a comfortable second spot and once again displaced the Nissan Altima to third place. Ford Fusion sold 33,881 units had its best sales month ever. It is within striking distance of the top three. The Altima and the Accord cannot rest of their results.
The aging Volkswagen Passat, Chrysler 200, and Subaru Legacy saw big losses. The 200 and the Legacy have all-new 2015 model coming to the market later this year and this should provide a big boost. The Passat will not a refresh for while still.
Mazda6 continues sales momentum with 38.5% growth, but it’s still far away from overtaking the Passat.
