Dr. Martin Winterkorn, the Volkswagen CEO, gave a business update on the eve of the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. He also made several forward looking statements, and the juicy one was his confirmation of a new Volkswagen midsize SUV for the North American market.
This vehicle will use much of the design and style from the CrossBlue concept VW revealed a year ago. It will have three-rows of seating and will likely feature diesel and/or hybrid power-trains. Dr. Winterkorn mentioned this new crossover will come to market in 2016.
In other news, the 2014 will be the year of the new Golf. Mk7 Golf is going into production in two days at the Pueblo Mexico plant.
