Genesis’ latest performance models don’t just bring wild orange paint to the party.

Virtually every luxury brand has its line of performance models, and Hyundai Group’s premium brand is joining in on the action. In New York, Genesis revealed both the GV60 and G80 “Magma” cars, alongside the new Neolun Concept — most likely a preview of what will eventually become the flagship GV90 three-row SUV. If you’re thinking the vivid orange hue looks familar, you’re absolutely right, as it’s taken from the GV80 Coupe Concept from last year’s New York Auto Show, as well as the X Gran Berlinetta Vision GT concept.

The GV60 Magma will be the brand’s first performance model out the gate. Apart from the Dr. Evil vibe I get from the name, Genesis also aims to beef up its performance line against the base models in both looks and power. This high-performance version gets different titanium-colored 21-inch wheels that supposedly help with aerodynamics and brake cooling, as well as wide fender flares, larger grilles up front and a racier wing on the rear deck.

Unfortunately, Genesis is currently mum on actual performance specs here. Odds are, its dual-motor setup will land somewhere along the gap between the 576-horsepower Kia EV6 GT and the 641-horsepower Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. You can also expect a sportier suspension setup to accompany the beefed up brakes with upgraded cooling and what look like properly wide tires to get all that power down to the ground. Of course, that won’t help its case for range, but if you’re looking for a performance EV…well, something has to give.

As for the G80 sedan, shown between the GV60 and X Gran Berlinetta above, we know about the same. Again, it gets larger grilles, a wider stance thanks to a sporty body kit, and a lowered ride height from the standard G80. The Magma also brings brightly colored seats in addition to the bold orange paint that will have absolutely no one mistaking what you’re driving. Unlike the GV60, the G80 Magma will be a limited-run model and only available to Middle Eastern buyers.

One question I have: Will we eventually see a GV70 or G70 Magma emerge? My money is on yes, so we’ll have to keep our ears to the ground for further developments on that front.

Andre is on the ground in New York filming both the GV60 Magma and the Neolun Concept, so stay tuned for that over on our TFLEV channel or watch it directly below:
