The 2017 New York International Auto Show has brought to us an all new sub-brand from Buick. Debuting on the all-new 2018 Buick Enclave Avenir, Buick says that the Avenir brand will represent the “highest expression of Buick luxury”. The Avenir brand offers for its various models different styling queues and the use of higher quality materials throughout the vehicle to provide a more luxurious, premium feel.
The 2018 Buick Enclave Avenir has a number of new features specific to the Avenir brand. Evonik Acrylite exterior lighting utilizes over 100 LEDs to illuminate the front of the vehicle. Buick have also given the Enclave Avenir a rear camera mirror, in hopes of providing a better view out of the rear of the vehicle. Additionally, the car has in-vehicle ionization which is supposed to make the air cleaner and more fresh.
As for powertrain options, a 3.6L V-6 engine comes as standard making 302 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This is hooked up to a nine-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to the front wheels, or all four wheels if you opt for the intelligent AWD system. This powertrain is good for up to 5,000 lbs of towing according to Buick. If you go for all wheel drive, MPG takes a slight hit, making 19 combined versus 20 combined with front wheel drive.
If you are curious what the Avenir sub-brand means for cars other than the Enclave, Buick says, “All Avenir models will feature an exclusive 3-dimensional mesh grille paired with chrome wings inspired by Buick concept cars.” As for pricing, Buick has not released any figures. However, they have said the 2018 Buick Enclave Avenir will go on sale in the fall of 2017 and that pricing will be announced later this year.
