According to the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show’s website, there will be over 50 cars revealed over the course of the show. However, we only know about a small handful of the cars that will be shown. Thanks to a Snapchat posted by DJ Khaled late Wednesday night in which the rap artist said he would be in LA to help unveil the vehicle, we can now confirm another car on the long list of reveals.
The car in question is not actually a new vehicle for Ford, it is just making its North American debut. That car is the Ford EcoSport, a subcompact crossover that will be looking to take down the likes of the Buick Encore, Chevrolet Trax, Honda HR-V and Nissan Juke.
The EcoSport has been around in European markets since 2003, with the current generation coming out in 2013. Based on the Fiesta’s platform, It features a number of different drivetrains in both front- and all-wheel-drive configurations, one of which is actually somewhat familiar in the U.S. That engine being Ford’s unique 1.0L 3-cylinder EcoBoost engine that can be fitted to the Ford Focus, among other vehicles. In Europe and other foreign markets, the car can be equipped with either a manual or an automatic transmission.
We don’t know a whole lot about the EcoSport, other than what we can learn from our foreign friends who have had some time to get to know the platform. To see what the car will be like here in the U.S., and to learn more about pricing and options, we will just have to wait for the full reveal on November 14.
While we wait, why not get a better idea of what else Ford has to offer in the US? You may be surprised at the luxury and performance that is available in the 2017 Ford Fusion. Check out the video Below:
