With the introduction of the revised Continental GT Speed, Bentley has given the world the fastest-ever production Bentley ever. Engineers have massaged the already potent 6.0L twin-turbo W12 to produce 633 horsepower (up from 626) and 620 lb-ft of torque (up from 605) to bring the GT Speed’s maximum velocity to 206 mph. The added torque is reportedly applied throughout the entire rev range, with maximum delivery occurring between 2,000 – 5,000 rpm. Bentley claims a 0 – 60 time of 3.9 seconds.
If the standard Continental GT Speed doesn’t hold your interest, Bentley also announced the Black Edition. Contrary to the direction certain other manufacturers are going with their special edition vehicles (you know who I’m talking about), the GT Speed Black Edition is not just a murdered-out version of the car… although that’s part of it. The Black Edition employs glossy black pieces around the car, including the window openings and lamp bezels, set against bright accents around the exterior of the body. Also included are 21-inch five-spoke black wheels covering your choice of red or black brake calipers.
Paul Jones, Product Line Director for Continental GT, comments:
“We have developed the GT Speed Black Edition to meet demand from customers for a model in the Continental line that offers both increased sporting capabilities and instantly recognizable styling cues. The Black Edition has a subtle but purposeful look that is backed up by exceptional performance.”
On the inside, the Black Edition continues the theme of light vs. dark with the use of carbon fiber offset by bright accent-colored trim pieces, leather seating, and contrast stitching.
The refreshed Continental GT Speed and GT Speed Black Edition are available for order now, with deliveries starting this summer. To help pass the time until then, check out video of the new 2017 Mulsanne.
