Brabus introduces an impressive upgrade program for the Mercedes-Benz S 500 plug-in hybrid that brings the eco-friendly luxury sedan to new heights. And just to be clear, this is probably the farthest thing from a Prius while still retaining the benefits of a clean air vehicle. Known for combining top performance with durability and everyday practicality, Brabus has developed the PowerXtra B50 Hybrid high performance kit that coaxes an additional 52 horsepower and 52 lb-ft torque from the V6 engine.
What was once 333 horsepower from the factory configuration, now the Brabus tuned engine produces an output of 385 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and a peak torque of 405 lb-ft between 1,600 and 4,000 rpm. Combined power output with the electric motor is now 500 horsepower and 656 lb-ft torque. All of this extra enhancement results in a zero to 60 time of 5.0 seconds and electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
The S Class is Mercedes’ top-of-the-line luxury car and Brabus offers more refinement options to complement the performance upgrade. Stainless-steel tuned exhaust system, OEM quality carbon fiber aerodynamic body kit, Brabus Monoblock forged alloy wheels with diameters from 19 to 22 inches. Sumptious Mastik leather and Alcantara upholstery are available to cradle the occupants in luxurious comfort and iBusiness multimedia system for refined entertainment.
The German tuner has been developing high performance kits for Mercedes-Benz since 1977. The Brabus PowerXtra Rocket 900 kit can transform an S65 into a 720 bhp road warrior that can jump from zero to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and make your eyes water at a top speed of 227 mph.
