There is a new member of the Fiat family for the United States. It’s the 2016 Fiat 500x. It’s a larger four-door variety of the Fiat 500 that features all wheel drive, hence the “X”. It shares powertrain and other components with the 2015 Jeep Renegade. Is this a Renegade in Fiat Clothing, or is it a whole different animal.

The power comes from a choice of two engines and transmission. The 1.4L turbocharged four-cylinder makes 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. It’s mated to the 6-speed manual transmission. The other choice is the 2.4L Tigershark with 180 horses and 175 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with the 9-speed automatic transmission.

The 500X starts at around $20,000, but it can be configured up to $31,800 for the Trekking Plus model.

There are plenty of choices and ways to personalize the 500X. There are 12 exterior colors and five distinct trim levels: Pop, Easy, Trekking, Lounge, and Trekking Plus. If you do not need AWD, the 500X also comes in front-wheel-drive only.
