2016 Mazda Miata MX-5 test mules caught in the wild [Spied]

2016 mazda miata mx-5 mx5Fourth generation 2016 Mazda Miata MX-5 is one of the most anticipated new cars of the coming year.  It will be officially revealed next month and have its public coming out party at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show in February.

Now, TFLcar brings you spy shots of the prototypes testing at high altitude.

The test mules caught here are still wearing the body work of the current generation car that has been altered to wrap around the new chassis.  You can tell that the front fenders have been stretched to accommodate a longer wheelbase.  Also, the hood and headlights do not fit like they should due to the stretch.

The car is expected to be powered by a SkyActiv motor good for around 200 horsepower that go to the rear wheels via a choice of transmissions, including 6-speed manual.
