Video: Air France Airbus A380 sideswipes and spins Comair regional jet like a top

Air When this sort of sideswipe car accident happens on the road, it is a pretty mundane incident but when it happens in New York and involves the world’s largest plane it becomes worldwide news.

Take a look at the amateur video below as a 70-seat Bombardier CRJ-700 Comair regional jet gets sideswiped and spun around like a top by the giant Airbus A380.

US investigators have impounded the Air France Airbus superjumbo jet that tossed around the Comair regional jet like a rag doll. The accident is now under investigation.

The collision felt like a “slight rumble akin to hitting a patch of rough pavement,” said a CNN correspondent on the Air France flight to Paris after the accident.

Air France operates five daily flights from Paris to New York but only one of them is on the superjumbo Airbus A380 which has a wingspan of almost 80 meters.

According to published reports a spokesman for Air France declined to comment on much it will cost to repair the Airbus A380 wing.
