Volkswagen posts a Voluntary Safety Recall for 71,000 2011 Jetta Models

VW recall

Volkswagen is concerned about their wiring layout and how it corresponds with the anti-theft system in the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta. Owners will be notified via first class mail with all of the pertinent information. If you have any questions, contact Volkswagen Customer Care at 1-800-822-8987.

Here’s a quote from Volkswagen’s press release:

“March 28, 2011 – Herndon, VA – Volkswagen of America, Inc. today announced a voluntary safety recall of 71,043 2011 model year Jettas in order to reconfigure a wiring layout associated with the anti-theft alarm system and horn. No injuries or accidents have been reported as a result of this condition. The recall affects sixth generation Jetta sedan vehicles built between March of 2010 and March of 2011.” – Volkswagen Newsroom

TFLCar.com will keep an eye on this story and update it if needed.

The good thing about “voluntary” recalls is that it shows the consumer the level of concern they should have about the potential defect. In this case, it’s nothing to panic about. We recommend calling if you’re concerned about turnaround time. You may need to make transportation arrangements.
