The Sleek 2011 Infiniti G37x Sport is Swinging Goodness
That’s right; I said “swinging.”
Look, some cars are built for speed and others are built for style. The Infiniti G37x Sport makes the driver look like a swinging aficionado of speed.
Chicks dig the car too.
Here are 10 facts about the 2011 Infiniti G37x Sport:
1) It’s got a 330 horsepower, 3.7 liter V6 that’s hooked up to a 6-speed manual (the one for manly-men) and a smooth 7-speed automatic (for everyone else). The “X” means it’s got all-wheel drive (AWD) and the “Sport” means it has more performance swag than the lesser models.
2) Something odd #1: This car will not let me play punk, heavy metal or alternative anything. Seriously! Sure, I can play good music through its excellent Bose® 11-speaker Premium Audio System – but it feels SO wrong… until you find the RIGHT music. Once I put on something sensual (music – not clothing) all was right with the world. It’s a lovely place to spend time and the seats up front are outstanding. Back seat comfort is good for my little ones, but adults over five-feet will feel a bit of a squeeze.
3) It’s unique and sleek – but not jaw dropping to look at. It’s definitely one of the better looking products made by Nissan & Co.
4) 0 to 60 mph didn’t set any records at over 5,200 feet elevation. It took an average of six-seconds. This is where forced induction (turbo/supercharger) would be a welcome asset. Most competitors suck extra air and are faster.
5) Still, when you carve a canyon in a 2011 Infiniti G37x Sport – everything makes sense. The AWD system is one of the best ones built – period. It makes you into a better driver – which is good for baboons like me. Steering feel is damn good at speed.
6) Something odd #2: I couldn’t stop thinking of sex when I was behind the wheel. Sex, sex, sex… constantly! There’s something sinuous, slinky and provocative about the Infiniti G37 that I can’t figure out. I mean, I was a PIMP driving the Infiniti and it (the car) liked it!
7) It ain’t cheap. My tester costs nearly $48,000. True, many competitors are more expensive; it’s still a tad too dear. If you opt for rear wheel drive and are okay with a slightly less luxurious ride, the base model 2011 Infiniti G37 starts around 40K – which is more like it. Even without the upgrades, it’s a hell of a good car.
8) The highway ride is pretty good. Infiniti’s G37 may share lots of parts with the Nissan 370 Z – – – but you would be hard pressed to feel it. Where the Z is slightly over strung in its suspension and ride, the Infiniti G37x Sport is supple. Remember, that’s WITH the beefy sport suspension on the G37.
9) The engine note is disappointing. I know, it’s a trifle complaint and some consumers don’t want beefy engine noise. Whatever dude – – – it needs some guttural grunting gonads to go with its silky looks and cunning cornering.
10) I wish the interior was as interesting as the exterior. No, it’s not cheap and most of the controls are logically located. The volume/search knobs are the same shape and size as the temperature controls. I added volume to the sexy, “The Girl from Ipanema,” and the interior got hotter and hotter. I thought I was freaking out before I realized my mistake.
Yes folks – I like the 2011 Infiniti G37x Sport a lot. It has a bit of soul only a handful of other vehicles contain and it tries desperately to please its driver. With more power and a snazzier interior, this sweetheart would stand toe to toe with the best.
For now, if you drive one – get your swinging sunglasses, stanky cologne and platform shoes ready for some swanky fun.
