The all-new 2020 Ford Explorer is just starting to arrive at dealerships, but this high-performance Explorer ST is already getting a complete tune treatment from 5 Star Tuning. The end result is 513 HP at the crank from the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6.
2020 Ford Explorer ST
The stock 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 in the ST is rated at 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque with 93-octane fuel. Ford has been listing their turbocharged engine rating based on 93-octane for some time.
This means the 5 Star Tuned Explorer ST can gain up to 113 horsepower without any hardware modifications.
The guys at 5 Star Tuning take the stock programming and take it further. One of the biggest gains come courtesy of E50 fuel blend. This is a 50/50 blend of 93-octane and E85/Ethanol. This takes the octane level even higher, and one can get it done at a regular fuel pump that has both gasoline and E85 fuels.
This power translates to a peak of 412 hp at the wheels versus about 310 hp at the wheels for a stock Explorer ST. Take a look at the dyno charts below.
