Pricing is out for the 2020 Toyota Corolla range.
Sitting at just $22,750, the 2020 Toyota Corolla Nightshade adds a blacked-out take on the sedan and hatchback models. It’s a treatment we’ve already seen in the Camry, Highlander, Sienna and 4Runner. Here, the Nightshade package adds darker aesthetic touches, based on the mid-level SE trim. Toyota will start production on the Corolla Nightshade this fall.
Toyota offers the Nightshade in Super White, shown here, Classic Silver Metallic and Black Sand Pearl. Weirdly, it’s only available with the CVT, which is a bummer. The Nightshade looks sportier with all the gloss black trim, but foregoes the fun six-speed manual. Nonetheless, the Corolla Nightshade is available in both sedan and hatchback forms.
The package brings in 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as black trim all around including the front rocker, door handles, mirror caps, rear spoiler, shark fin antenna, and the inner frame on the headlights.
Since the 2020 Toyota Corolla Nightshade is based on the SE, you do get a 2.0-liter Dynamic Force engine under the hood. It puts out 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque, and does manage up to 40 mpg with the CVT.
Other changes to the Corolla Hatchback
Apart from the Corolla Nightshade, there are a few small changes for the 2020 Corolla Hatchback. The latest Entune infotainment system will now support Android Auto, rather than strictly Apple CarPlay, across the entire range. The SE model also gets an “enhanced cargo space” option, by way of removing the spare tire and lowering the cargo floor. Going for that will improve the Corolla Hatchback’s cargo area by six cubic feet, up to nearly 24 cubic feet with the seats in place.
