The four-door 8 Series is coming in late June.
BMW has bestowed the 8 Series Coupe upon the world, in all its stylish — and expensive — glory. Since then, we’ve known the company would reveal a four-door “Gran Coupe” version. Now, ahead of its official reveal, we have another glimpse at the impending 8 Series Gran Coupe.
If you’re expecting style with this model, it doesn’t look like you’ll be disappointed. The 8 Series Gran Coupe uses the same platform as the Coupe, just extended to accommodate the extra doors. That means the flowing lines, as well as the front and rear end, are still there.
Also like the two-door version, the Gran Coupe will sport a powerful engine. Right now, the M850i version of the 8 Series uses a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, with 530 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. According to BMW, that makes the Coupe good for a 3.7 0-60 sprint. The Gran Coupe will be slower, but we don’t expect a huge difference.
As the flagship of the range, this Gran Coupe model will not come cheap. The M850i coupe starts at $111,900 before destination and options. While BMW has yet to reveal official pricing, we expect this four-door model to cost significantly more than that.
BMW will reveal the new 8 Series Gran Coupe between June 25th and June 27th at an event in Munich. According to BMW Blog, the car’s official launch will happen in September 2019, around the Frankfurt Motor Show. Stay tuned for more updates!
