More Fisker SUV Information: Fisker Reveals New Teaser Image & Possible Production Locations

We know it will be built in the US, but where exactly?

Following the announcement of an electric SUV for 2021, Fisker announced the appointment of Don Jackson to head their manufacturing efforts. In addition to filling the new position, Fisker pointed out several states as potential locations for their next factory. Surely this will be a key decision in their efforts to deliver the new SUV by the second half of 2021.

Manufacturing Experience

Don Jackson looks, on paper, like a strong candidate to lead production for Fisker. Jackson served as a Senior Vice President of Quality and Production for Toyota’s manufacturing efforts in Texas. Before Texas, Jackson served as Vice President of Manufacturing for Toyota’s operations in Kentucky. More recently than Toyota, Jackson served as President of Manufacturing for Volkswagen of America.

This is a promising resume. Fisker really seems impressed with Jackson’s track record for quality and reliability. We will see if he is the right guy to help a smaller manufacturer deliver an all-new electric SUV.

Where to build?

So, Fisker thinks they have found their production head, but where are they going to build this new Fisker SUV? Fisker highlighted a number of potential states to host their new plant.

So far, the list includes: California, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. These states are being considered through a Request for Proposal (RFP process). Usually, this involves some form of bidding to find the best option for both Fisker and its new home. Currently, Fisker has not highlighted a clear front-runner.
