Alfa Romeo has confirmed the 4C Spider for a 2020 model run in North America.

After Alfa Romeo killed off the 4C coupe in the U.S. last year, we were dubious as to whether its convertible cousin would live on much longer. Now, the company has confirmed the 4C Spider will continue its model run into 2020. To mark the occasion, Alfa Romeo brought this 4C Spider Italia to the 2019 Chicago Auto Show. Before you run out to buy one, you should know that only 15 examples of the already low-volume car will be built.

From the factory in Modena, Italy, Alfa Romeo will hand build the 4C Spider Italia for $5,000 above MSRP. However, they did not mention specifically what the cost would be. As of 2019, the standard Alfa Romeo 4C Spider runs for $67,495 before options. Is the 4C Spider Italia worth roughly $72,500?

Alfa Romeo does include a range of unique touches for the 15 cars in the production run. Each model comes in Misano Blue Metallic, a unique color to this 4C, and features a piano black air intake and rear diffuser. “4C Spider Italia” graphics with Italian flag tri-color graphics also mark the car’s heritage.

On the inside, more 4C Spider Italia logos appear. Each car also has an individually numbered plaque on the center console.

Remember, this is a mid-engined, rear-wheel drive roadster. To that end, it still houses a 1,750cc (1.7-liter) turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Since it’s light, weighing in at just over 2,300 pounds, the 4C Spider sprints from 0-60 in 4.1 seconds, on to a top speed of 160 mph.

No word on exactly when deliveries will start, but the car is on display right now at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show from February 7th through the 18th. Stay tuned to TFLcar.com for more updates from the show!
