Fresh on the heels of the 2019 NAIAS’ heavy debut schedule, General Motors announced that the 550 horsepower 2019 Cadillac CT6-V (formally known as the CT6 V-Sport) will start at $88,790. Cadillac’s “Blackwing” twin-turbocharged 4.2-liter V8 to produce 550 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. That engine comes mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system. There is no word on a manual option, although it’s doubtful.

This is the debut of this new powertrain from Cadillac. No other GM vehicles will get this engine – at least for now. Persisting rumors suggest this engine may make it into the Corvette. Only time will tell.

If you want to preorder the 2019 Cadillac CT6-V, only 275 orders will be taken for the United States. That leaves little time to order. Cadillac is taking this vehicle seriously, judging by this limited series preorder run.

“The 2019 CT6-V marks the expansion of the V-Series sub-brand and is the proof point of Cadillac’s commitment to build high-performance vehicles as we continue our product offensive,” said Steve Carlisle, president of Cadillac. “Fans of Cadillac will see high-performance variants across our portfolio.”

There are other perks as well: If you buy the 2019 Cadillac CT6-V, you will receive a luxury accommodation and training at the two day Cadillac V-Performance Academy at Spring Mountain. That offer is valid for one year, and Cadillac reserves it for the original owner of each new model.
