Cadillac revealed some sneak peek pictures of their upcoming XT4 crossover, set to debut at the New York Auto Show
Several manufacturers are hopping on the compact luxury crossover bandwagon. Those who were already there – the BMW X1, Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA – now face stiffer competition than ever. Infiniti jumped into the fray with their QX30, Jaguar with the E-Pace, Volvo with the XC40, and now we have this. Cadillac has given us a preview of the all-new 2019 XT4, slotting in below the XT5 in the company’s crossover lineup. We caught spy photos of the XT4 testing last year, and now the final product is close to fruition.
It’s scheduled to debut at the New York Auto Show on March 27th, but here we get the chance to see it a bit early. Well, when I say “see it”, it’s more like we get to see its silhouette. Why now? Because Cadillac is seizing an opportunity to air a 30-second XT4 commercial (below) at the Academy Awards this Sunday.
So what do we know? The 2019 XT4 will supplant the XT5 as the brand’s entry-level crossover, as the XT5 competes against larger rivals like the BMW X3 and Audi Q5. As is fashionable in the compact luxury crossover segment, the XT4 will likely get a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and an eight or nine-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive will likely be an option.
According to the video clip below, the XT4 will go on sale this fall. There’s also a possibility a plug-in hybrid variant may follow. That is, after the normal 2.0-liter unit gets its moment in the spotlight. Check back to TFLcar.com for more updates!
