2017 Jeep Compass Sneak Peek: Jeep Brings a New Crossover to its Lineup [Video]

Jeep has flown Roman out to San Antonio, TX to test drive and review the brand new 2017 Jeep Compass. However, Jeep has placed an embargo on driving impressions until every journalist in attendance has had the opportunity to drive the car. So, for now, we can’t talk about how it drives, but we can show you how it drives as well as give you many of the key details.

The 2017 Jeep Compass is a new crossover from Jeep that slots between the Renegade and the Cherokee. Jeep hopes that the compass will help globalize their brand, building the vehicle in four different countries and selling the vehicle around the world. As such, Jeep makes a plethora of power trains for this vehicle, 17 to be exact. Unfortunately, the US market will only get one of these combinations. That is the 2.4L Tigershark four-cylinder which makes 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. This will come standard with a 6-speed manual gearbox but, as in Roman’s test vehicle, a 9-speed automatic transmission can also be had. If you opt for the front wheel drive version, you can also have a 6-speed auto.

To find out what else Roman has to say about the features and style of the 2017 Jeep Compass, be sure to watch the full video. For driving impressions, come back on Friday, February 24 to see a full off-road review of Jeep’s new crossover.
