Commemorating the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 this year will be the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS convertible, which will serve as the official Festival Car. 50 examples will be built to serve the officials involved with the legendary race and also be used for parade duty prior to the race.

“You know the month of May is almost here when the Indianapolis 500 Festival cars are seen around the streets of Indianapolis and beyond,” said J. Douglas Boles, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president.

Typically, these cars are driven around town through April and May each year as the Indy 500 race day draws closer.

The 2016 Camaro SS Festival Cars are recognized by their Hyper Blue paint, white racing stripes, and a “100th running of the Indianapolis 500” graphic featured along the doors of the convertible. Inside is a block leather interior that is outfitted with a full suite of options. Each Indy 500 Festival Car will be serialized 1 through 50. After the race they will go to Chevy dealerships in the area to be sold as limited production collector’s cars.

The prestigious race will take place on May 29, 2016.
