The 2016 Nissan Maxima was revealed on Sunday as a surprise during the company’s Super Bowl 49 “With Dad” commercial. The big-game ad portrayed a Nissan professional race driver who, because of professional commitments, was absent for much of his son’s childhood.
At the end of the spot, the driver surprises his son by picking him up from what appears to be orchestra practice in the 2016 Nissan Maxima. The two then embrace, and drive off into the distance, with the Maxima’s V6 sending a subtle growl into the evening air. Interestingly, in the driver’s last race, the forthcoming front-wheel-drive Nissan GT-R LM made a guest appearance, as well.
The 2016 Nissan Maxima’s debut came as a total surprise to #SB49 viewers, who caught a glimpse of Nissan’s flagship ahead of its global debut at the 2015 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS 2015) in April.
The Maxima’s dramatic styling features Nissan’s new design elements – including the V-motion front end and unique “floating” roof – that first appeared on the 2015 Nissan Murano crossover.
Though specifics on the 2016 Nissan Maxima have not yet been released, it has been speculated that the latest evolution of their “4-Door Sports Car” (4DSC) will be a clear dynamic reflection of earlier Maximas.
