Ford Explorer continues to cleanup in the sales department among full-size crossovers. It registered 17,748 units sold, which represents a 25.4% over August of last year. It has a big lead over the rest of the field. Toyota Highlander had a rough month and nearly fell into the clutches of the four other people movers that are all fighting the third sales position.
The aging Honda Pilot sales continue to slide downward. However, Chevy Traverse continues to climb and is very close to overtake the Honda. It does have to worry about the Hyundai SantaFe, which is getting good press and sales results. SantaFe numbers do include the five-passenger SantaFe Sport crossover. GMC Acadia is the only other full-sizer that had a positive month. Nissan Pathfinder, Dodge Durango, and Mazda CX-9 all struggled.
